Tour Description
We meet at Lucerne Train Station at 9:45 am, where we board the Panorama Express and begin our scenic journey over the Brünig Pass towards the Hasli Valley in the Bernese Oberland.
As we arrive in Meiringen, we change to a local bus that takes us into the beautiful Rosenlaui Valley. From here, we continue on foot for around 30 to 45 minutes.
We follow the Reichenbach River along gravel and forest paths, passing through meadows and forests surrounded by spectacular Alpine scenery. We pass the historic Hotel Rosenlaui before reaching the entrance to the Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge.
This impressive gorge has been formed over thousands of years by glacial water flowing down from the surrounding mountains and carving its way through the limestone.
The path through the gorge is well-secured. We pass through 12 tunnels and climb 215 steps, gaining around 115 metres in elevation.
Then, it's time for a break. We will have a relaxed outdoor picnic. Please bring your own lunch. Think sandwiches, fruit, veggies, for example.
We will bring a few Swiss treats to taste along the way, so you can discover some local favourites.
With some new energy, we continue our journey by descending through a forest trail back towards the gorge entrance, then catching a bus to the second natural highlight of the day, the Aare Gorge.
The Aare Gorge stretches for approximately 1.4 kilometres through the limestone mountains. It is an easy walk along secure walkways, bridges and tunnels.
We’ll allow around one hour to explore the gorge at a relaxed pace, with plenty of time to stop, take photos and enjoy the views without rushing.
